I have grafted a bud from my Poncirus trifoliata to a Seville sour orange seedling rootstock. The T-Bud PT looks good but it just grows like a pimple and doesn't leaf out. Can anyone offer advice.

This is a flower bud. Take it out as soon as you can do it safely and wait for lateral buds to wake up.

Sylvain Thanks You are right. I have not cut the tree off yet. It is broke over the tree is still getting fed from the main rootstock tree top.

Hopefully there's a latent vegetative bud able to push growth.

It's ironic that flower buds are the enemy? Flowers do some sort of hormonal thing to the scion and then scions waste away. I think that's why prunis budwood "must" come from new branches. New branches have less unopened flower buds.

The secondary buds are never flower buds.

11-25-20 update on growth of PT on Seville. 3 out of 4 PT's to Seville failed. This one did well and I grafted a Fukushu kumquat to each of it's 2 trunks.
