Hi guys, I haven't been writing on the forum for a long time, but still active citruswise 4 years ago I lost a lemont tree and I decided to plant a seed to grow a new one. This new guy has been very vigorous since the beginning and it was growing very tall, so I decided to try to spread its branches growing it on an espalier that I constructed for this purpose. The first image was taken last year, when I had just set up the espalier, the second image was taken this month. The tree is growing nicely, I think I will add onother level to the espalier. It is still very thorny but some branches are showing a decreasing thorniness giving me hope that I will be able to see some flowers next spring. Ciao!

Update: at the end of summer 2022 I had to add another level to the espalier because the tree had almost reached the roof And just a few days ago I found out that this guy decided to make his daddy a proud daddy!

For the followers of the node count theory, the first bud appeared at node in the range 100th - 110th.
EDIT: New bud around node 90

Climate is not helping here in Italy, it's been a very bad month of May and some areas in the region where I live had heavy damages and floods. Nonetheless, buds on my lemon are growing and more are developing in lower parts of the tree.

The warm temperature of the last days accelerated the development of the buds and the first flower opened. Now let's see if one of those flowers will make it to a lemon
