Does anyone grow olives in addition to citrus? I fell in love with them in both Italy and Greece. I have an 7’-8’ arbequina in ground. I’ve had it about 3 or 4 years and though it has yet to produce, it is still a beautiful tree.

I had an Arbequina Olive tree for a couple years. It grew very well, but the late freezes got it.

I believe all olives have to be processed before you can use them.

My family has some 250 trees, most of them are planted 3 years ago, however there are some trees at least 100 years old.

The olive trees growing in the Garden of Olives in Jerusalem have very massive trunks. I have no idea how old they are but must be many 100's of years old..

Thanks Adriano! My brother in law has visited Lebanon a few times and seen some of the larger/older olives. What varieties does your family grow?

My family grows some local sorts, not well known outside of the region. Levantinka which is endemical variety of the Island of Solta, Oblica which is endemical variety grown only in Dalmatia and Istria. Some italian varietys like pendolino, grossa di spagna, carolea are also popular. Also hajiblanca from Spain

My Arbequina is flowering for the first time. Hopefully it will hold on to fruit this year.
