End of October is best time to ring satsumas. Ringing will increase the fruit production next year.

Lebmung, what do you mean by the term Ringing? it's grindling in form of a ring so that it can heal over the winter. Flower buds emerge during the fall, cutting the sugars to the roots will force them to bloom. This is done in september/ octomber. In November will have no effect. Valid only for mature trees, this won't apply to juvenile. Just use caution too deep or large will harm the tree.

Spelling mistake.
I will take a picture to show how I do it. For Satsumas it will double the fruit set following year.

Ok I'm quite confused because I'd call that ring barking and from what I read online it's the same thing. I've ring barked a tree before but that was to kill it.
I did read online that what your saying is a technique to to get better fruit. But it seems extremely risky especially for a small tree. Up until today I thought ringing was only used to kill a tree. I'm interested to know more but I don't think I'd ever try it myself.

Girdling. I’ve done it to a mature wild crabapple tree that wasn’t blooming. But what I read to do is to just cut out a thin strip of bark a few inches long, not to completely girdle the tree. It helps trap more sugars higher in tree to get flower buds to set. It worked.

You just cut a ring like I did in the picture, not too wide or the tree will die. Now the time is over. Any ringing in December is dangerous, flower buds form in October.
