It was this beautiful creature that had me plant my first citrus back in high school. While I get a few every year damage is diminimus. Usually wasps take them out so I neve have to spray. More issues with CLM and mites than Papilio Cresphontes.

End of May and June these things will strip new growth. Sometimes I find 40 or 50 eggs. I spray, hand pick and crush. I dont have wasp to help me.

I never remove them from my trees however if I see them on a small tree I try to move them to a large tree where they do little damage.

Sometimes you have to give Mother Nature a hand.π Or a foot Lol. I do try to move them to another plant if possible, but this year I caught her laying her eggs and followed her around and plucked them off. TFN

You can check each day if you have a small stand of trees. Watch for the big mostly black and the big yellow butterflies. They are fast and they will hit each new growth an drop a bunch of eggs. Hardened leaves are not their preference. They love newely forced buds.

I have a homemade pestolator in each grove. Its an old concrete bird bath. Has a bottle of charcoal starter in it and a few lumps of charcoal. As I make my rounds each day I clip dead wood, leaf miner damage, caterpillars and any varmits I find. On the way out I toss them into the pestolater, squirt a little fluid on them and set them ablaze. Keeps the grove clean of wood pest can hide in and the end of the existing pest. Perhaps its a mind trick......knowing the pest are burning in hellπ€.
