Very good instructions. I do it the same way but add a couple extra cuts. I start out with a ramp cut at the base, than the vertical cut. Same for the sion, a small ramp cut at the base. When inserting the sion slide it down to match the two ramp cuts. Two layers of parafilm, stretch over the bud area, film below only below the bud. Why all this extra?, because when someone give me a piece of sionwood that I been looking for, I treat it with extra care. Everything I have gotten are all thriving, I mean all of them!! Have over 30 trees all in containers because I am in zone 7. Can match you guys growing in the ground.

Good move. I sometimes make the extra cut.....depends on how much I have to do. Can not hurt to go the extra mile.
