When the threat of HLB came along and I thought my citrus collection would surely be gone by now I started collecting figs. I do enjoy growing them but they have there challenges and just when there almost ripe a bird enjoys it and leaves you a wonderful stem to remember it by.

Are you sure that you’ve tried a good variety?

This is my first year trying to grow figs. I have one that is branched and one that is growing straight up. Should I pinch the tip out of the one growing straight up or wait and top it while it is dormant or just leave it alone?

Which varieties are good tasting, I started purchasing a few scion wood to graft to my brown turkey. My tree is tall and thin (3" diameter x 15 ft tall). I never eat much from the tree since the birds always beat me to it. I guess I should cut it in the middle to encourage more branches.

That's one fruit I can't eat... A combination of figs with lemons is giving a fantastic jam or marmalade, with taste and smell different from both ingredients.

I think it will also work particularly with dark skinned figs.
I believe it is acid from citrus in combination with anthocyanins and sugar from figs that gives the unique taste and smell.
