Ripe fruit are like sour mandarins, also a bit like a sourer version of Calamondin. Slight bitter flavour. Also fairly close to rough lemon. Full size green fruit, or just as they break colour are also useful. Juice is nice with Avocado. Nice ornamental plant, can be used as rootstock. Rangpur Red Lime has orange fruit. There are also " Red Limes" with red fruit.

Just ate a full size dark green peel fruit today. Quite pleasant lime flavour with a slight hint of "lime cordial/ soft drink/ soda pop" and a hint of something like Sansho pepper maybe from the peel ? Not as sour as lime. Not to everyones taste ?, on the other hand there are many cultivars, in many countries, and many cultures.

I have a rangpur red lime (the label read: "Citrus limonia (Osbeck)").
I too find that the fruit doesn't taste great. Mine have no sourness at all and are quite bland actually; the rind does have an interesting smell, but I find it less pleasant than that of most other citruses. The fruits are good looking though. Maybe I should try eating one while unripe: it might be a little more acidic and thus less boring, who knows?
My young nephew, however, loves the taste. We even performed a graft together so that he may have his own tree when he gets old enough to take care of it (although by then I might be glad to give him the original too).

I recently got an acid-free Rangpur. The fruits are sweet but without acid they lack something to taste good. But I find them interesting for breeding.
A few days ago I was able to try another Rangpur a Kusaie (at least it was called Kusaie, whether it is the same as in Riverside I don't know, the description there actually sounds different). The fruit is really delicious, slightly sour but also with enough sweetness and some aromatic flavours to make it very palatable. Not a table fruit for snacking like other sweet citrus, but great for flavouring, like a real lime. I have eaten them pure
