Still on the hunt for Monachello, Sungold & Lumia lemon or any other interesting Italian varieties. Also any variegated (Non pink) varieties.

Oscar Tintori has extended their lemon collection considerably. But that's of not much help I guess...

Why is it si impossible to find a Monachello lemon here in the states? I had it back ten years ago & it was easy to get from CA. Now it seems nobody is selling them...

Appears that varities come and go. Whats hot and whats not always gives a collector fits. The talk of the town is not always what folks desire.

So ive recently decided that I like lemons more than limes... which is the opposite of what I thought before. I recall trying a sorrento lemon from grocery store and it didnt seem different than eureka/lisbon. If you could recommend one lemon for me to try what would it be?
Something I can actually obtain scion wood of.

They are a fast grower. Millet sent me some budwood in the spring and the graft has really taken off. I had this one years ago, but lost it to a freeze.

My old Bearss lemon produced some very good fruit as well. Thanks to Stan & Kelly I have some going again.

Is the Sungold an Italian variety? I thought it was a variegated Lisbon (as opposed to Eureka). I bought one from the GlassHouse nursery years ago. It has never fruited but the foliage is very pretty. The Forest Farm lemon looks like one I bought recently as a variegated pink lemon through Target -- it will be interesting to see if it's really a pink lemon. Mine has very yellow foliage (similar to the Sungold but different). I saw the Forest Farm lemon and called to ask if their lemon was pink inside and they claim it is not. Not sure if this clarifies any of the earlier posts.

It's hard to get a good answer. The original "Sungold" was discovered in CA as a sport of Eureka. I also got my Sungold from Glasshouseworks. They could not tell me where they sourced their tree, but told me it was a Lisbon. They say they no longer have it, so who knows.
