Is the lycopene-based pink of the cara cara orange inheritable? I remember it being a mutant and I think spontaneous traits like that may not always pass down well. I know some other pink non-pumelos like italian pink lemons exist.
And is anthocyanin-based red of moros recessive?

Mutations concerning lycopene accumulation in oranges, grapefruits and pomelo are multiple, but all result in inefficient expression or inactivity of the gene responsible for conversion of red color lycopene through beta carotinoid pathway. It seems that many of them are also dominant. |
