www.ldaf.state.la.usLooks like I am OK for budwood as long as I am not using Parish involved. I am in Livingston Parish...not in a quarantine Parish. Opinions please.

In Georgia were trying our best to keep HLB out and prefer only certified trees and Budwood allowed in. I know it happens though

Yes we are trying too. My last two orders from ccpp cost me an arm and a leg. $2.50 per budeye. I dont mind the cost and understand it. I just wish they had the varities I want. I know others are getting budwood but I am for doing it right.

We are planning to get certified ASAP and then licensed to ship out of state. The only problem is that one citrus state can’t ship to another citrus producing state.

Yes. The drawbacks are numerous. Right now ccpp is the only source of legal certified budwood. Texas has a program but you have to be a registered nursery to get budwood and the costs are prohibitive. I think the cost and the lack of the desired varities are what is causing budwood to be smuggled. I am not for it but I understand why. If certified budwood was at a fair price I feel that a lot of smuggling would end. I must admit that I miss the budwood swap with friends and folks....

I hope that one day I can sell certified Budwood. That is my goal anyway. I have to grow my own increase trees from certified buds. But there’s still the problem of not being allowed to ship to citrus states. I’ve been collecting for a long time and have around 125 varieties and soon it will be illegal for me to use buds from those trees to grow more trees here in Georgia. I have voice my opinion and have met with the agg Commissioner about it. Some rules have been changed a little to make it easier on nurseries but they will still be difficult to comply with in the beginning.
