Hi everybody, I want to share great news from Ukraine. Two weeks ago for the first time in history citrus Trifoliata started blooming in Kyiv. This tree is 10 years old and is 2.2m high. Blooming started at the height of 1.7m about 10 days ago. There were only 3 flowers at the beginning. Later, flowers at other branches appeared at the same height. This plant lost leaves for winter for two last years. I was expecting this blooming, and finally it happened.

Thank you! The minimal low in Kyiv was only -9,7C in the last winter and -14,4C the previous winter. In general, Trifoliata plants (I have a couple of dozens of them next to the house) did not freeze in the last seven years. Starting from autumn 2013 and up to end of winter 2018 the minimum lows were between -16,0C and 23,4C. For example, on 7 Jan 2017 we had -18,7C, on 4 Jan 2016 -19,2C, and on 30 Jan 2014 even up to -23,4C. During the first three years the Trifoliata plants partly got frozen and later on they adjusted to the climate. The coldest winter was in 2012 when we had -26,8C on 03 Feb.

After the Glacier retreated (its edge used to be in Kyiv area) it has become quite comfortable:)

Blooming at this time of year, it's likely that these flowers are prematurely emerging flower buds intended for next spring's bloom.
This is common in Poncirus and a few are seen most years. When it occurs earlier in the season it's referred to as"June bloom". One unique characteristic of late season blooms is that the flower petals tend to be much smaller than early season, normal flowers. I'm seeing many late flowers on my trees this year, also.
The good news is that your tree has transitioned into the mature, reproductive stage.
