Hi I'm looking for any poncirus seeds. I'm willing to pay a reasonable price.
I live in Ireland so it will grow outside and am only just getting started growing citrus so I figured that if I grow loads of rootstock now it will be ready to graft by the time I'm ready to start grafting.

Welcome to the forum. Better luck in the fall when the fruit is ripe...

Hi Ash: don't forget about the Down Under. The southern hemisphere has opposite seasons to us Northerners. And if you are going to grow seedlings out for two seasons indoors - then you would be starting them indoors anyways.
You get a better tap root + drought resistance if you plant seed in final grow spot in the ground! Sure you must know that. (Seeds from Down under, sometimes sprout erratically. Timing being off by six months..)
Best wishes ... ZAP

Hey zap I have had a few people say they might be able to give me seed in autumn. But I'll have to wait and see how those work out. As for being able to buy it by the quart I can't even seem to find a place in Europe. The problem is that all the citrus growing countries speak a different language and my attempts to use Google translate and search haven't helped at all. And I've recently learnt it's illegal to import plant matter from outside Europe. If I could buy a quart I would do it. Citrus grows fine in Ireland as long as its grown in a protected bubble and never allowed to experience any Irish weather 🤣

I found their Website www.vivaimdb.it/product_info.php?products_id=435 and they say the plants are 2 years old and since it works out at €1.50 each I'd happily pay it. But they were out of stock. It was hard to tell if they were getting more since the site was in Italian and I was using Google translate. I'd buy them for that price if I could be but I get the feeling that shipping 40 plants to Ireland from Italy would be super expensive even if they are small plants so I won't get my hopes up. But I'll keep an eye on the site. Thanks for the link

The eBay site states there are 13 lots of 40 plants available. The sellers feedback looks good, but the usual "caveat emptor" applies.

Ya I saw that but I still have to see if they ship to Ireland and the price of shipping.

I have bought Poncirus seedlings here before:
They are € 1.50 a piece. They were about the size of the ones in that ebay offer.

Ok they are in stock but shipping to Ireland is €44. And they told me that the plants are a little yellow at the moment. They did offer me a 20% discount because the plants are yellow but with shipping to Ireland it works out at €2.30 per plant that aren't healthy and won't be ready to graft onto for a few years since they are so slow growing... I think getting seeds in the autumn is my best plan

See if you can find swingle. It is graftable in a year or less & is my favorite rootstock for just about everything.

I'll try but good rootstock seeds seem hard to come by in Europe.. I think that's just because the citrus growing countries aren't English speaking. I think seville orange is my best bet since the seeds should be easy to get.
