The Oita Prefectural Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research and Guidance Center Agricultural Research Division is currently applying for registration of a new seedless Kabosu variety, Oita Kaken 6. Oita prefecture produces 96% of Kabosu in Japan market, (80-85% is cultivar 大分1号 Oita no.1). Oita Kaken No. 6. is bigger than seedless cultivars Sobonokaori 祖母の香 and Kami no kawa 香美の川, and is more productive. It is triploid cross of tetraploid native Kabosu and diploid Yutaka no Midori Kabosu. from left: seedless Kami no kawa, Oita Kaken No. 6, Oita no.1.
