Which fertilizer do you guys use for your container citrus? I use Osmocote Plus and Foliage pro but the latter is getting really expensive with 50 plus trees. I am looking at using Peters High Efficiency fertilizer or maybe Peters professional foliage fertilizer and just add some micronutrients like macromax or STEM but I am not too sure if it’s even gonna be worth it or if its better to stick with foliage pro and Osmocote plus. Any input? Thanks!

If you have a lot of tree’s, a TRF fertilizer like Osmocote plus save you a lot of time, way more easier to work with. For me , I still use Peters 25-5-15 hp as prime. I buy a lot of season ferts and throw that in the mix. Some micro,s added works crazy good, amazing! It’s a hobby, sometimes you go the extra mile!

I have used Osmocote plus for a long time. Works well, easy to put out. You can add blood meal or fish emulsion for trace minerals occasionally. Container citrus is a pretty heavy feeder and needs nutrients to be available most of the year.

Osmocote plus a little Epsom salt here & there. Thank you! I noticed that Osmocote Plus is missing some micros tgat foliage pro has (reason why I still use it), would epsom salt cover that?

It does not contain calcium though. Any suggestion on Ca source? Thank you!

I will look into that. Thank you!

I also use osmocote, both for my containers and in ground trees. I have about 60. I occasionally foliar spray with peters 25-5-15 but I am too lazy to mix it into the water supply.
I set a camelcamelcamel.com alert to text me when osmocote is cheap so I can stock up.

If I detect a need for trace elements, which I rarely do, I mix a spray of blood meal and fish emulsion and spray the foilage and let the trees absorbe it. Light spray, as high nitrongen is in both. Usually this is not needed as I feed both in the soil. Not the most good smelling spray but effective. An added benefit.....pest seem to shy away from sprayed trees.
