This link is very interesting! The authors are astonished that citrus medica seems to come from Oceania. They forgot the papuan citron which is a pur citron and could be the mother of all citrons!

Does anyone know where on New Caledonian Oxanthera grows? Already the main island has many different eco systems. Since it belongs to France it’s maybe possible to import seeds? Does anyone know?

A MOLECULAR PHYLOGENY OF THE ORANGE SUBFAMILY
I don't get why they examined so many known recent hybrids in this study, like Limequat, Tangelo etc. Since most Citrus are " hybrids ", known recent hybrids must be just as valid a choice to study. Still I wonder if the inclusion of so many " relatives "in Citrus will stand the test of time ??

"1300 km (800 miles) north-west of the Australian city of Brisbane"
Might be north-east.

Well spotted! I will correct this shortly.
You may have to be quick! If the voting trend continues New Caledonia could be independent in a couple of weeks. From Wikepedia: An independence referendum will be held in New Caledonia on 12 December 2021. The poll will be the third and final to be held under the terms of the Nouméa Accord, following votes in 2018 and 2020, in which independence was rejected by 56.7% and 53.3% respectively.

the question is also if new caledonia is even part of the eu customs union. if not, the import will probably be treated like any other seed

No, my dream is to go back to PNG to prospect the west coast north of Port Moresby. In only the 10 km north of Brown river I found two unknown citrus. I am sure they are many more norther! And we don't know what we could find south of Port Moresby... I leave Oxanthera for someone else.

If you plan to go on a second trip to PNG Sylvain, I definitely would be interested in joining.
