I think the thing that turned me off the most about Yuzu was the amount of seeds & the skunky after taste of the fruit. A few old photos before I took the trees out. They did produce a lot of nice fragrant blooms...

He does not have the tree anymore. Funny though that it is so highly valued by "gourmets" and you don't like it, Laaz. I have yet to taste a true Yuzu but my Hanayuzu are quite good although small.

I don't know why Lazz does not relish yuzu, but for me it has a taste that is reminiscent of horse liniment. I have used it to make tea and as a reduction for sauces and I just can not get past that off taste that it has. Its in the peel too only stronger. It not the same kerosene taste that is in poncirus and its hybrids but just as bad. Any use for yuzu you can substitute a good lime for and you do not get the horse liniment aftershock. Nothing good comes from yuzu or poncirus IMHO. I have tried them so ripe that they were starting to soften and so green they were hard. Tried them at all stages and.....still the have that wang.. I still have one growing but you will have to hold a gun on me to make me eat one. Same with poncirus....its only good for rootstock and paint removal.

There are quite a few cultivars of Yuzu.. Could it be that you are just unlucky over there?

They've had them at the citrus Expo's, all tasted the same to me. My wife doesn't like them & the kids don't like them, so they were just taking up space....

Citrus tree cannot ship to California. There are many citrus I want to plant, but I couldn't found them in my local nursery here.
Most of my trees are from seeds. I wish Stan can ship it to me, there are couple trees that I want from him website.

There is a problem there.Yuzu is one of the best citrus. The part to use is mainly the zest but you can use the juice (one spoon by fruit) wich is very good but not enough sour for fishes or oysters. I freeze the juice in cubes and use them later. You can use the whole fruit to make an unforgettable marmalade. The zest is pure parfum. I use it to make yuzucello. It is even better than lemoncello!
Maybe yours is a bad variety. About 20 to 30% of the seeds are not true-to-type.
The fruit on the picture is over ripe. The good time is when just turning yellow.

But it still had a skunky after taste to it. Mine were grafted trees.
