One of my JD Manufacturing 1/2hp 24" fans that came with my greenhouse kit died today. Not stuck, not the capacitor, I can spin it by hand no problem. I'm letting it cool off just in case it is the thermal safety tripping.
Given that I only ever run my fans at low speed now since installing the fogging system I am thinking of replacing it with a much smaller fan running at full speed. My greenhouse kit came with two 1/10th HP horizontal airflow fans that I never ended up installing because I used ceiling fans instead. I am going to try one of these in its place, and if not enough maybe try a 1/4hp motor.
I turned the speed up on the remaining fan to compensate as it will be very hot today.

I tried replacing it with a 1/10hp fan i had on hand, but it is too weak to be effective. I took the 1/2 motor apart because I was curious what a burnt out motor looked like, and it was pristine inside! Turns out it just had a bad capacitor, i just tested it on the other fan. $12 part instead of $300 fan

Sounds like a Job day. Stan has an explanation. I just think its Kilroys law. Anything that can happen......will! Hope you get it done.🤔

Brian you had fan trouble, and I had pump trouble. The pump that sends water up to the east cooling pad quit working. Luckily I have two 6 X 6 cooling pads on the back end of the greenhouse (one on the east end, and one on the west end) so the one working pad kept the GH temperature below 100F. Patiently waiting for the hot summer to be over and autumn to begin.

Same... my remaining vent fan seems to be doing fine keeping things cool. I turned its speed up a bit while I wait for the new capacitor to arrive. Having two of everything is a huge safeguard.
