I hope you find them. I am having a hard time finding a trade. I am a stickler for finding varities that I like/want. Seems that each time I find something I like, everyone and their brother wants it too. I am gonna look for this one.....will let you know should I find.

Of the hybrids I have ОТА38 And I like the taste of this hybrid very much: sweet, with a beautiful balance of sugar and acid, a very pleasant smell and thin skin of the slices.

Would somebody please explain why the developers use letters and numbers even after they become popular? Why aren't the letters and numbers replaced with a name? I see a lot of this with a variety of fruits, even figs.

Ota 9 commercial name is Sun Red. It was marked OTA, because breeders thought, that they crossed clementine Oroval with Tarroco. Later they found, that in fact it is a cross of clementine and Moro, but they did not change name. In 2018 it was still on the field test. I will contact breeders for actual info. (A) Sun red grafted on Carrizo citrange; (B) Fruits at ripening and (C) in mid-november, showing some flesh pigmentation; (D) Juice of Sun red (central) in comparison with those of Tarocco 57 1E 1 (left) and Moro nuc. 58 8 D1 (right)

It's strange that the release takes so long. I remember with the striped meyer hybrid when I first read about it, about a year later it was available from Tintori. Maybe that's because the meyer hybrid only has an ornamental value...?

Maybe that's because the meyer hybrid only has an ornamental value...? Ota9 is not good for fresh fruit market (small fruit, lot of seeds) but they see it as a very promising fruit for comercial juice production. So there are long time trials in some farms to find best rootstock and growing conditions to maximize juice amount and quality.
