Is anyone growing Honey Pomelo. The pomelo comes in two varieties as far as I can tell. One is a yellow flesh Honey pomelo, the other is red flesh pomelo.
I bought many fruits from a local Asian market to eat and taste them. Also was looking to find some seeds. The yellow feshed pomelo seems to be completly seedless. But I noticed on the red flesh pomelo, sometimes there are a few seeds.
So, I found some seeds (Red Honey Pomelo) and am trying to grow them out now.
As for the taste, I find the yellow flesh fruit has hardly any taste, most of my grapefruits and pomelos tastes better. What is your experience eating these?
For the red flesh fruit, it is good tasting, different because it is a pomelo with no seeds, not really sweet like my Reinking or Thong Dee, but still looks nice due to the red flesh and the fruits are all of 2-3 lbs each.
Which one do you guys like better?
I took some photos of both fruits so I will post them later.

I grew about 100 seedlings of white honey pomelo. I used them as rootstocks. There are still a couple dozen left. I chose two huge ones in the store, they were larger than the others. Both were over 3 kg. There were a lot of seeds in both.

Pummelo does not produce true from seed.

Not true from seed wouldn't mater if it is used for rootstock would it.

Millet, I grew a Chinese pummelo from seed because the parent fruits were big, but taste was not sweet to me. The seedling tree I grew gives one of my best tasting pummelo fruits I have now. It is one of my top 2 pummelos. I like the fact that these Honey pomelos have rind/skin that is soft and easier to peel than some I grow like the Reinking or Chandler (got rid of), flesh is also easier to separate.
Boris, where did you find a Honey pomelo that was 3 kg? The fruits they sell here in the US is about 3 lbs each (1.36 kg). These fruits were imported from China, the gift box does come with 2 fruits which totals to about 2.7-3 kg. I purchased many fruits to try and find some seeds, none of the white honey had seeds, but the red honey did have some seeds (10). Also I thought the white honey did not have much taste, it was good but seemed to be watered down taste. The red honey was much sweeter so I like that one more.
Updated: 1/29/23 Boris, I want to retract my statement above about the 3 kg fruits you found. I just went to another Asian market here that was having a sale on the Honey pomelo. I found a couple of them that were 5 lbs (2.3 kg).

sc4001992 glad your seedling produced good tasting fruit. Still Pummelo seed does not produce true. That does not mean that the resulting fruit from seed will not be a good or bad tasting fruit, but it will be different than the mother.

Millet, yes, I'm hoping the seedling Honey will produce some fruits that will be seedless and taste similar to the parent fruits. The UCR budwood selection does not have any seedless pummelo so I'm hoping that growing out the seeds and waiting for the fruits might get me there.

When I saw them, I realized that I had to buy Although it didn't come out cheap considering the weight. Here we have the most expensive citrus fruits.

I purchased 8 more Honey pomelo fruits from the market. Most the fruits were the White Flesh Honey pomelo, I only got 3 that were Red Flesh from the first purchase.
The fruits look nice, are very large, peels very easy (for a pomelo), almost all are seedless. But I was surprised that most of these fruits were not that sweet at all. They are mildly sweet so it is nothing special to eat. I took some brix readings of the fruits and they all had brix of 10-12 which is not that high. Taste is not very good, just ok to me.
