Thanks, I used poncirus rootstock ~1cm thick and two budwood Ichangstar 60 and one Ichangstar 61( did not grow much - lowest small branch on the right), first growing period was still inside, second in greenhouse and third started outside and it was finished in greenhouse in October, so it was a nice bush after just 1 season.

Unfortunately all Ichangstar 60 flowers have only a small pale yellow pistil, so there will be no fruits this year. At least I pollinated N1Tri Voss and Chosta mandarin flowers with Ichangstar pollen and I will use it later for Nagami kumquat, Shivamikan.

Ilya will you have any fruits from these new Ichangstar hybrids this year ? My grafted Ichangstar 60 had only one growing period in spring but after colder weather in second half of August it started to show flower buds, they have nice red color and I don't see any damage on them after several nights with freezing temperatures -2°C, there is also no leaves dropping or coloration.

We had a terrible season here, extraordinarily wet and cold.
Otherwise that of Ichangstars, I had several more hybrids flowered for the first time, but than dropped all fruits.
Number 60 is still the best, has many fruits that are already ripe. Number 2 Number 8

Which rootstock did you use? Do you grow it in the greenhouse?

It is this plant, still in container but from end of May until now outside, We had also very cold Spring this year and nights with temperature bellow 0°C came early in October.

Ilya, since the hybrids of your selection are distributed among amateurs, have you ever thought about giving the most outstanding of them memorable names? "Ichangstar" is just the name of a hybrid type like "citrange" or "tangelo". As citrumelo 4475 became a "Swingle", so your ichangstars should get more euphonious names. So that they do not suffer the fate of clem-yuz 3-3 or N1 triVoss. Haven't you thought about it?

I think Ichanngstar is a perfect name and I also prefer Clem-Yuz over "10 degree mandarin" but it is true that N1 Tri Voss is complicated to write and I have no idea how to name his precocious F2 seedling... Any suggestion?

First of all, I am giving them to everyone who wants to try because I believe that many interesting hybrids from the past were lost because they were selected in particular conditions and failed elsewhere.
Ichangstar is a "portmanteau" name from C. Ichangensis and 5_star, I have several dozens of such hybrids that are perfectly resistant in my place , but have not been tested in other climates or evaluated for their taste by others.
So, for the moment it is the best name for this series.

These buds overwintered in a cold dark room without damage and the first flower opened today, there are many flower buds from last year and new flower buds are growing too so hopefully I will get some fruits Ilya do you know if Ichangsar 60 can produce zygotic seedlings?

Yes, it is zygotic, but most of its open pollinated seedlings are stunted.

First 8 fruits from my Ichangstar 60 tree are almost ready, it is grafted on poncirus and flowered in May 14, photo from October 31, so in my greenhouse it took around 170 days from flower to ripen fruits, it seems 2 - 3 weaks earlier than N1 Tri Voss and 2 weeks after poncirus fruits outside. Some fruits have nice yelow color like lemon already, some are still partially green, so I will wait week or two until I will test taste.
