I just picked my first fruit off my Brown Select yesterday. I was a little bit disappointed in the first one as there was one seed in each section. The fruit has a lot of the white pith clinging to the fruit. Lots of white stringy stuff which was easy to remove. The fruit just completely turned orange this week and looks a a little puffy at this point. Did I wait too long to pick? It was sorta sweet and a bit watery because I watered it the day before. What is the fruit suppose to be like? Next year I will cover the tree while in bloom so no cross pollination.

The Brown Select should be comparable to Owari. I like them both and do not find major differences in them. I grow them both. Find Brown Select ripens a little earlier than Owari. Brown grows more upright. Good satsuma mandrins.
