I’m getting ready to air layer a bunch of rootstock shoots to use for grafting this fall. Do you guys think it’s too late in the season to do so? I’m in GA zone 8a and we have often had warm Thanksgivings, even Christmas. I know every tree is different, but what is the average time before clipping and planting? A month or so? Thanks for your time!

I find that air layering is harder and takes longer than cuttings. I do air layer occasionally. I will leave the covering on a air layer until the ball is full of roots. This takes several months some time. Its not too late now to do it. You have time to get it done.
